St. Lucia Day

As is well-established, my little Kayte is a traditionalist.  And a tradition that requires the oldest daughter in the family to plan and create?  She is all over that....she's been doing this St. Lucia breakfast (served in the dark) every year for some time, and recently has enlisted the help of her little sister.  The time for this breakfast has been 6 am, or more lately 4 am.  But this year, they just couldn't wait.  As soon as they knew that we were snug in our beds, they snuck out and went to work.  Bagels, white toast, bacon & eggs, pancakes, gingerbread men, fudge, and chex mix.  The table was laid out with the finest they could find.  Kayte rosined up her bow, and played some violin while Sara went to wake us up!  It was 1 AM.
They were bright-eyed and cheery!

It took the boys a good ten minutes to wake up, and then they joined us downstairs for a middle-of-the-night feast.  The girls had our hymnals out so that we could sing carols in the candlelight!  It was pretty amazing and a little surreal!
After we'd eaten all that we could, we headed back to our beds, for a very long winter's nap.
Well done, ladies :)  You impress me more every year!
