Kayte's Game Face.

Love it!

Planning ahead.

So.  Ben decided he wanted to build a lego creation to enter into the Latah County Fair.
In September.
Obviously, I thought that was ridiculous.  But then, I saw his creation:
He named it Alex.  It's so awesome!!
And he'll be hanging out with us (all in one piece) until September.  Better bring your game.

Age...it's catching up with me!

It's the usual April Panic.  After a ho-hum January effort to get back into running shape, by April I start to panic.  I have this thing about Bloomsday.  I gotta run it.  I love/hate it!  But I love it cause it forces me to get back on the treadmill.  And this spring, I've even been outside!  But the April Panic that I have every year, makes me add miles that I'm not quite ready for.  When I was 20, if I'd had that kind of inkling, I might've been fine.  (Youth is wasted on the young.)  But now, well, frankly, it's a miracle I can still run at my advanced age.  No really.  Every time I run, I think, this is a miracle!!  Look at my little legs go!
So April Panic in the last couple of years has lead to April Injuries.  This year, it was my Achilles.  Haha.  I just think that is funny to say.  It doesn't seem real. Like injuring your funny bone.  Just, walk that off!!
Anyway,  I finally sought some professional help.  She literally taped me back together, and then told me to dunk it in ice.  Personally, the ice thing seems like an old wives' tale.  But then...so does tape!  So I tape, and ice, and drug, and the next morning, after 10 days of hobbling, I get up and I can walk!  And, even better... run!
Another miracle!  The lame can walk!

So I bought more tape.  Really cute tape!  And this injury all of a sudden makes me feel powerful!  Like now, look at me run!!  I ran until I injured myself!!  This takes extra skill.  Only real athletes injure themselves, right?
This tape is awesome though, I highly recommend.  Next time the kids get the flu, I'm just gonna tape this stuff around their belly.  That will surely take the edge off.

Spring!!

We have been having the most unbelievable spring weather!  One Sunday, it was just too nice to stay inside, so we headed to Kamiak for a little hike.  Perfection!

...and we've already had a handful of dinners outside.  The bugs are nowhere to be found!....yet!

They're baaaaaccckkk!

Pregnant ladies, rejoice!!

****if you're not pregnant, don't even think about it.
I'm serious.

We have a dog.

Some days I still can't believe it.

Busy busy days!

The day of Kayte's first track meet had arrived!  Unfortunately, Ben had a major dentist appointment scheduled for the same day.  Major.  He was having several cavities filled and a root canal and a crown put in!  It had to be done.  It could not wait.  So, we tackled it anyway!  The appointment went very long.  He was numb and nitrous-ed and generally knocked out.  We raced down to Lewiston praying all the way that we hadn't missed a thing, and praying that the very threatening storm would miss us.  We made it in time.  We bundled the kid on the grassy hill and waited for the drugs to wear off.  Kayte ran a sub-7 in her first ever 1600, the rain stayed away, and we ended up with a lovely day with friends.
Life!!

The team!

The line-up!

I had puppy guilt (added to my mom guilt for dragging my drugged son all over the state) so I packed Piper to take her with us.  I mistakenly thought dogs were welcome at track meets.  They are not.  She stayed in her crate most of that evening but I'd taken her out between races and suddenly I was bodyguard to a major celebrity.  Guys, take note.  The ladies love pups!  Haha!

By the end of the day, even this kid perked up.  And he was pretty darn proud of that silver tooth he scored!  Little ray o' sunshine.

Weekend getaway...

...so I ran away for the weekend.  Ate a lot of food, and drank some good wine, and chatted it up with good friends.  Meanwhile, at home, the dad-of-the-millennium was putting a net around the biggest trampoline in the world so that my kids could safely jump sky high.

It was a really good weekend.

...love these guys!!

....the spring balls

...so we've been pretty regular attenders at the school balls lately. Let's face it, getting all pretty and dancing with your friends can be a lot of fun!  I have one particular child that is not a fan.  Pretty solidly dislikes it.  But, we do him a great big favor and make him go.  And then we make him dance.  Every dance.  It may take awhile, but he's gonna thank us someday.  I'm kinda looking forward to that :)  A lot.

My easy-bake girls

Big enough for the real oven, but nothing beats brownies cooked over a lightbulb for pure-genius fun!
