2nd Annual Grill-Off + a Bake-Off

Heather has been planning this grill-off/bake-off since the last one wrapped up one year ago. This year, it was filet mignon and for the women's bake-off, which was a new category this year, fruit pie!
We had quite a crowd this year, both Casebolt and Sawyer clans, plus Heather's in-laws, Nancy and Rocky, and the Grieser family.

Heather, putting on the final touches for the spread.

The bake-off prize and trophy.

And the grill-off prize and trophy.

The matriarchs of the two clans and a mutual granddaughter.

The judges for the filet mignon. I'm gonna get myself on this panel next year!

Heather and Ann had set up a whole table with squirt guns, sidewalk chalk, and bubbles for the little ones. It looked much tidier five minutes ago. . .

Last year's grill master and the fierce competitor.

Joe finishing his filet mignon with some white truffle oil and bacon.

The contest was highly organized this year and the rules were strictly enforced to keep any bias out of the competition.

The ballot.

This horse got quite a work-out.

Dave took home the trophy again this year! His advice, "Let the steak rest!"

The kiddie table stacked with a whole bowl of individually bagged cheetos and a tower of cupcakes. Kid Heaven!

. . .oh, and princess dresses!

Pot-lucking.

The stack for clean-up. (Thanks Shawna!)

The pie judges.
Notice Rocky and Jayson made it onto both panels somehow. . .

My pie. Berry-bottomed coconut. Dee-lish!
Kayte came up with the idea for the coloring contest. There were five competitors and Ava came out on top! Good job Ava!!!

. . .and our second place winner!

Mom won the pie contest with her raspberry pie.
It is fantastic!
Ann came in second with a peach blueberry. And someone said they liked my crust, so that's nice :) although I think I lost my husband to my mom this time around. . .
Playing in the pool. Love this face!

Terran making friends.
Thanks to everyone who made this day such a success - especially Heather and Ann for all the endless work that is hostessing! The day was so well-planned, everyone had a fantastic time, and we are already looking forward to the next one.
And Heather, we truly appreciate your super-organization! Great gift!
